Dr. Ryan Anders Whitney is a full-time research professor at the School of Architecture, Art, and Design at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico City Campus. His research focuses on the intersections between urban sustainability and equity, exploring the local and global dynamics that influence the circulation of policy models. Dr. Whitney holds a PhD in Urban Planning from the University of Toronto. Before joining Tecnológico de Monterrey, he was a visiting postdoctoral researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center for Development Studies (CIDER) at Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá. In the field of academics, his research has been published in journals such as the Journal of the American Planning Association, the International Journal of Urban and Regional Research, Cities, Urban Geography, and Environment and Planning C: Politics and Space, among others. Since 2020, he has coordinated the Policy Mobilities Working Group (PMWG), an international research group with over 40 members representing more than 30 research institutes and universities worldwide. Dr. Whitney is also an active professional, having worked on projects related to sustainable mobility, participatory urban planning, and inclusive climate action planning in Canada, Mexico, Colombia, France, and Tanzania.
