Dr. Gaytán holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from CIDI-UNAM, a master's in Product Design from the Berlin-Weissensee School of Art, and a doctorate in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture at UNAM. She has worked for companies such as Healy, which designs and produces bottling machinery; Daimler-Benz, in vehicle interior design; and her own company, which designs and manufactures solid-surface furniture, primarily kitchens and bathrooms. In 1998, she forayed into academia, first at Universidad Iberoamericana and later at Tecnológico de Monterrey. She has taught courses ranging from basic design to advanced theories, including ergonomics and design anthropology, as well as furniture design and high-tech product design. For the past six years, she has been part of a multidisciplinary, multi-university team developing a drone capable of transporting cargo and a passenger. This work has resulted in three granted patents and four more pending. This project has received support from SECTEI (Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation) in Mexico City.
